Screwed By The Army

Zane, my younger brother, has ended up being screwed by the Army and he hasn't even shipped out yet to basic training yet!

He was supposed to leave the day after tomorrow morning for his final processing at MEPS (Military Entrance Processing Station) before shipping out to the south for his basic and advanced training courses. We had all wondered why there was so little communication from the recruiters on this matter, especially since when I went in they were calling almost daily for the week up until my ship out date.

Zane called them this morning and discovered that his ship out date wasn't the 21st of June, but the 11th of July. Apparently his date to leave had been moved backwards but because of some kind of error, he hadn't been notified.

Needless to say, my brother is pissed off. Those of you who have moved away from home to college or gone into the Armed Service yourself understand what it is that Zane is going through; you're all set and ready to leave, you've said your goodbyes, made your peace with a complete change in lifestyle, gotten used to the idea that you probably won't see most of your friends for a while, etc, etc and then you discover you aren't going anywhere for another month or so.

Kind of anticlimactic.

Rebirth

Aberdoober is still in the process of it's migration from RaddueNET Productions. I figured it was time for a change, especially considering that I've been using RaddueNET in one form or another for almost eight years. I've decided to do away with the clunky content management systems that I've been using for a while since they are so hard to keep updated and have more features then I will ever need to use.

This site is completely recoded (by hand, mind you) from the ground up, using nothing but HTML and CSS. It was surprisingly easy to make a page like this, apparently coding websites raw is like riding a bicycle. Or your mom.

Either way I will be keeping my gallery up, I just have to finish it's migration. On top of the redesign, new domain name and all of that jazz I also switched hosts. My last host might have been cheaper, but the steps necessary to get certain functions working was just this side of completely asinine.
